I almost called this “Best Choice FOO” because on the side of the building, under the “NOW OPEN” sign, it reads “Best Choice FOOds.ca”. I have no idea why “FOO” is capitalised, but “ds.ca” is not.

I came across this gap in the streetscape while walking along Logan this morning. Apparently the people in the lot to the right wanted a bigger yard. Why they would is not clear – they don’t seem to be making any use of it.

An homage to Fred Herzog. Click here for higher res version.
I’ve been walking by here with a camera for years, and have made a few attempts at capturing this building, but I’ve never been at all happy with the results. Finally it all came together: the light, the people, even the relatively new tattoo sign. Likely my discovery of Herzog’s work was also a necessary ingredient.

Just off Logan. Shot while waiting for a bus. If I’d had more time I might have figured out how to shoot the house at the far left (with the lit Christmas lights).

I took a walk down Logan. It was above freezing and mild for the season. While there is relief that winter is over, we have to get through this period of puddles and mud before we can really appreciate spring. Meanwhile, for the people living near the tracks, the roar and rumble of the passing trains remains the same as the seasons pass.
